Background & Purpose of the Job

The Category Management team leads insight into action to impact strategic customer and category growth.  We work closely with our customer partners and Customer Business Development organization to build categories, pioneer new products, and deploy best in class retail capabilities.

We are hiring a Category Management Manager for the Ice Cream business to drive influence and results with Out-of-Home and Digital Commerce Channel.  The CMM performs a valuable role by building a strong partnership with the customer and implementing insight driven recommendations to grow the ice cream category.

You’re a born leader: You will become the go-to Ice Cream category management resource for Out-of-Home and Digital Commerce by creating opportunities for influence and leadership.

You’re a strategy guru: You’ll integrate multiple sources of insight to define where to play and how to win over the short and long term. You're able to develop plans based on industry research and Unilever knowledge for engagement and execution with appropriate customer contact points.

You're a storyteller: You’ll use data analysis and category management capabilities to create presentations that sell in strategic and technical growth opportunities.

You love to win and have fun doing it: Your insights and analysis will provide triple-win growth recommendations for the consumer, Out-of-Home and Digital Commerce and the Ice Cream business unit.

In this role you will...

  • Lead category management initiatives for Out-of-Home and Digital Commerce by driving category management principles across the Ice Cream category.

  • Drive best in class category fundamentals for assortment and shelving using a full suite of capabilities like point of sale data, shopper data, panel data, and planogram software.

  • Develop and implement actionable category growth strategies leveraging category and shopper insights through the customer strategic planning process.

  • Directly manage the category relationship with the merchant contacts at Out-of-Home and Digital Commerce.

  • Own standard category management reporting for Out-of-Home and Digital Commerce.

  • Liaison with Unilever’s Category Strategy and Planning team to provide the voice of the Out-of-Home and Digital Commerce shopper, category performance and facilitate the execution of initiatives with the customer.

  • Proactively collaborate with cross functional partners on key business opportunities and provide actionable growth recommendations.

What You’ll Need to Succeed:

The ideal candidate has industry-leading: 

Strategy & Analytics Capabilities

  • Strategy & analytics muscle: 5+ years of experience in Category Management, Analytics and/or Strategy

  • Expertise in syndicated store & shopper data  

  • Robust experience with data mining and exposure to third party data including Nielsen or IRI, Numerator, Customer Loyalty Card, Salient, CMS/EYC, etc. 

  • Excellent knowledge and understanding on drivers of category growth 

  • Expertise in retailer direct store & shopper card data 

  • Ability to learn to distill complex data and analysis into simple storytelling 

Collaboration & Relationship Skills

  • Customer relationship management experience: CPG & customer management experience required 

  • Storytelling and influencing skills 

  • Ability to lead clear concise meetings that are objective and outcome focused 

  • Communication skills across written, verbal, and presenting 

Leadership Skills

Pay: The pay range for this position is $98,300 to $147,500. Unilever takes into consideration a wide range of factors that are utilized in making compensation decisions including, but not limited to, skill sets, experience and training, licensure and certifications, qualifications and education, and other business and organizational needs.

Bonus: This position is bonus eligible.

Long-Term Incentive (LTI): This position is LTI eligible.
